McGill University is committed to supporting the academic pursuits of qualified undergraduate students in need of financial assistance. The University’s Entrance Scholarship Program provides entrance scholarships to students from low to moderate-income families who are in need of financial assistance. Those eligible to apply to include all:

Newly accepted undergraduate students, freshmen, and juniors, and
Newly accepted direct first-year undergraduate applicants to the professional programs in medicine and law (with a prior degree).

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the International Student Entrance Scholarship Program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Nominations are open to applicants from around the world.
  • It is available for undergraduate courses offered at the University
  • Candidates must be full-time graduate students at the University
  • Meet financial challenges by supplementing other funding resources such as government assistance, band support funding, part-time work, parental support, and other funding sources
  • English Language Requirements: Students must demonstrate proficiency in English through the TOEFL or IELTS test.

The Entrance Scholarship Program is a need-based financial aid package for prospective undergraduate students.

The goal of the program is to make the University more accessible to those facing financial hardship by supplementing other funding resources such as government assistance, band support funding, part-time work, parental support, and other funding sources.

Application Process

Upon notification of acceptance to the University (either by official letter or via the Admission Status page on Minerva), the application becomes available on Minerva: select the Financial Aid/Scholarships tab > Financial Aid Menu > Apply for a McGill Entrance Scholarship > Complete and submit your application.

Canadian students (citizens or permanent residents) living outside of Canada must submit a CSS Financial Aid Profile to the Office of Scholarships and Student Financial Aid in addition to the McGill Minerva Aid Application.
American students who wish to apply for the University’s entrance scholarship program must submit a CSS profile in addition to the McGill Minerva Aid application.
International students (non-U.S.) who wish to apply for the University’s entrance scholarship program must submit a CSS profile in addition to the McGill Minerva Aid application.
